But if no one is using the site, then I'm not going to go to the effort of posting. I'm now pregnant with twins and life has gotten busy.

Short story
"The House on Chestnut Street" by Tom Roulstone
(From Amazon)
"Another story in the Lattimore saga. Jim and Betsy's son Ben goes east and finds romance. Like most of the stories, this one has a surprise ending."
These short stories are just about long enough to read during the 20 minutes I work out on my elliptical. Not really time consuming, but fills my goal of amusing myself while working out.

"He Loves Me Not" by Christine Kersey
I've read this one and enjoyed it.
(From Amazon)
"If you like Mary Higgins Clark, you'll like He Loves Me Not.
Stay away from him. When college student Lily Jamison receives the ominous note, she convinces herself it's a mistake. After all, she's barely met the two men it could be referring to. But as she begins to fall for the man with the striking blue eyes, the disturbing messages increase.
Refusing to believe warnings from an anonymous sender and trusting her own heart, Lily presses forward with her relationship, eventually coming to understand the meaning behind the messages as she fears for her life."
"The Fragrance of Her Name" by Marcia Lynn McClure
(From Amazon)
" Love, the miraculous, eternal bond which binds two souls together. Lauryn Kensington knew the depth of it. Since the day of her eighth birthday, she had lived the power of true love; witnessed it with her own heart. She had talked with it, learning not even time or death can vanquish it. The Captain taught her these truths. And she loved him all the more for it.
But now, a grown woman, Lauryn’s dear Captain’s torment became her own. After ten years, Lauryn had not been able to help him find peace—the peace his lonely spirit needed so desperately; peace he’d sought every moment since his death over fifty years before.
Now, what of her own peace? The time had come and Lauryn’s heart longed to do the unthinkable—selfishly abandon her Captain for another—a mortal man who had stolen her heart, becoming her only desire.
Would Lauryn be able to put tormented spirits to rest and still be true to her own soul? Or, would she have to make a choice—a choice forcing her to sacrifice one true love for another?"

"Prize of My Heart" by Lisa Norato
(From Amazon)
"An unsolved mystery separates ex-privateersman Captain Brogan Talvis from his lost son--his only living relation, his only family. Shortly before her tragic demise, his wife abandoned their infant to strangers, refusing to reveal the child's whereabouts. Now, three years later, Brogan has discovered the boy at the home of a shipbuilder's daughter, Lorena Huntley.
Lorena guards a dark secret about her young charge. She finds herself falling for the heroic captain who has come to claim his newly built ship, unaware his motive for wooing her is to befriend the boy he plans on reclaiming as his own--until the day another's evil deceit leaves her helplessly shipbound, heading toward England.
As the perfect opportunity to reclaim his son unfolds, Brogan is haunted by thoughts of Lorena in her dire circumstance, and he is forced to make a heartrending choice between his child and the woman who has begun to capture his heart. But only his unselfish sacrifice can win him the greatest prize of all--love."
"The Touch of Sage" by Marcia Lynn McClure
(From Amazon)
" Following the death of her parents, Sage Willows had lovingly nurtured her younger sisters through childhood. She loved her sisters. She’d seen each one married, and was glad to see them settled and happy. Furthermore, she held no resentment at never having found a good man of her own to settle down with. Yet, regret is different than resentment—and far more haunting.
Still, Sage found as much joy as was allowed a lonely young woman—in being proprietress of Willows’ Boardinghouse, and in the companionship of the four beloved widow-women boarding there. Until, that is, the devilishly handsome Rebel Lee Mitchell appeared. It seemed Reb Mitchel instantly and forever vanquished Sage’s feigned contentment.
Dark, mysterious and secretly wounded, Reb Mitchell utterly captured Sage’s lonely heart. Nevertheless, to Sage Williows, the powerfully attractive cowboy—admired and coveted by every female in his path—seemed entirely unobtainable. How could a weathered, boardinghouse-proprietress resigned to spinsterhood, ever hope to hold the attention of such a man? And knowing she couldn’t—would Sage Willows simply sink deeper into the bleak loneliness she’d secreted for so long?"

The Rose of Winslow Street
"The Rose of Winslow Street" by Elizabeth Camden
(From Amazon)
"The last thing Libby Sawyer and her father expected upon their return from their summer home was to find strangers inhabiting a house that had been in their family for decades. Widower Michael Dobrescu brought his family from Romania to the town of Colden, Massachusetts with a singular purpose: to claim the house willed to him long ago. Since neither party has any intention of giving up their claim, a fierce legal battle ensues between the two families.
When important documents go missing from the house, Libby suspects Michael is the culprit. Determined to discover the truth behind the stolen papers, Libby investigates, only to find more layers of mystery surrounding Michael and his family. Despite their rivalry, Libby finds herself developing feelings for this man with the mysterious past.
As a decision about the house looms in the courts, Libby must weigh the risks of choosing to remain loyal to her family or give her heart to a man whose intentions and affections are less than certain."

The Time of Aspen Falls
"The Time of Aspen Falls" by Marcia Lynn McClure
(From Amazon)
"Aspen Falls was happy. Her life was good. Blessed with a wonderful family and a loyal best friend--Aspen did know a measure of contentment.
Still, to Aspen it seemed something was missing--something hovering just beyond her reach--something entirely satisfying that would ensure her happiness. Yet, she couldn't consciously determine what the "something" was. And so, Aspen sailed through life--not quite perfectly content perhaps--but grateful for her measure of contentment.
Grateful that is, until he appeared--the man in the park--the stranger who jogged passed the bench where Aspen sat during her lunch break each day. As handsome as a dream, and twice as alluring, the man epitomized the absolute stereotypical "real man"--and Aspen's measure of contentment vanished!
Would Aspen Falls reclaim the comfortable contentment she once knew? Or would the handsome real-man-stranger linger in her mind like a sweet, tricky venom--poisoning all hope of Aspen's ever finding true happiness with any other man?"

Weathered To Young
"Weathered To Young" by Marcia Lynn McClure
(From Amazon)
"Lark Lawrence was alone. In all the world there was no one who cared for her. Still, there were worse things than independence—and Lark had grown quite capable of providing for herself. Nevertheless, as winter loomed, she suddenly found herself with no means by which to afford food and shelter—destitute.
Yet, Tom Evans was a kind and compassionate man. When Lark Lawrence appeared on his porch, without pause he hired her to keep house and cook for himself and his cantankerous elder brother, Slater. And although Tom had befriended Lark first, it would be Slater Evans—handsome, brooding and twelve years Lark’s senior—who would unknowingly abduct her heart.
Still, Lark’s true age (which she when concealed at first meeting the Evans brothers) was not the only truth she had kept from Slater and Tom Evans. Darker secrets lay imprisoned deep within her heart—and her past. However, it is that secrets are made to be found out—and Lark’s secrets revealed would soon couple with the arrival of a woman from Slater’s past to forever shatter her dreams of winning his love—or so it seemed. Would truth and passion mingle to capture Lark the love she’d never dared to hope for?"

The Pirate Ruse
"The Pirate Ruse" by Marcia Lynn McClure
(From Amazon)
"Abducted! Forcibly taken from her home in New Orleans , Cristabel Albay found herself a prisoner aboard an enemy ship—and soon thereafter, transferred into the vile hands of blood-thirsty pirates! War waged between the newly liberated United States and King George. Still, Cristabel would soon discover that British sailors were the very least of her worries—for the pirate captain, Bully Booth, owned no loyalty—no sympathy for those he captured.
Yet hope was not entirely lost—for where there was found one crew of pirates—there was ever found another. Though Cristabel Albay would never have dreamed that she may find fortune in being captured by one pirate captain only to be taken by another—she did! Bully Booth took no man alive—let no woman live long. But the pirate Navarrone was known for his clemency. Thus, Cristabel’s hope in knowing her life’s continuance was restored.
Nonetheless, as Cristabel’s heart began to yearn for the affections of her handsome, beguiling captor—she wondered if Captain Navarrone had only saved her life to execute her poor heart!"
A few words. Sorry about that last post. I posted it while in bed from my Kindle Fire. Its a bit hard to check my search engine from my fire, and then posting links and copying and pasting is pretty impossible. I had intended to get back to that post the next day and add the links and the description but by then myself and the baby had been taken down by an awful cold.
So, I'm really sorry about that last post.

"Breck had always struggled with finding contentment in city life. She remembered visiting her uncle’s ranch as a child—the way she had always felt free—as if she could breathe better when away from the city. Breck figured she was that one child in every family who should have been born in a different era—but she hadn’t been. Thus, Breck had finished her degree at Colorado State and settled into a big city job at Wilson Investigations.
Still, there were moments of happiness found in city life—instances of excitement and delight. Whenever Breck found herself in the presence of her handsome, yet seemingly haunted boss, Reese Thatcher—she often new moments of pure euphoria! But fact was fact, and though no other man was the zinger her soul longed for, Reese Thatcher was a man a woman simply dreamed of winning—not one a woman actually won. Wasn’t he?"

"A Better Reason to Fall in Love" by Marcia Lynn McClure
I think this is the 3rd time since I started this blog that I've seen this offered for free.
(From Amazon)
"Excerpt...
"Boom chicka wow wow!" Emmy whispered.
"Absolutely!" Tabby breathed as she watched Jagger Brodie saunter past.
She envied Jocelyn for a moment, knowing he was most likely on his way to drop something off on Jocelyn's desk--or to speak with her. Jocelyn got to talk with Jagger almost every day, whereas Tabby was lucky if he dropped graphics changes off to her once a week.
"Ba boom chicka wow wow!" Emmy whispered again.
"He's sporting a red tie today! Ooo! The power tie! He must be feeling confident."
Tabby smiled, amused and yet simultaneously amazed at Emmy's observation. She'd noticed the red tie, too. "There's a big marketing meeting this afternoon," she told Emmy. "I heard he's presenting some hard-nose material."
"Then that explains it," Emmy said, smiling. "Mr. Brodie's about to rock the company's world!"
"He already rocks mine...every time he walks by," Tabby whispered."

2 great new books
"Sweet Cherry Ray" by Marcia Lynn McClure
(From Amazon)
"Excerpt…
“Cherry glanced at her pa who frowned and slightly shook his head. Still, she couldn’t help herself and she leaned over and looked down the road.
She could see the rider and his horse—a large buckskin stallion. As he rode nearer, she studied his white shirt, black flat-brimmed hat and double-breasted vest. Ever nearer he rode and she fancied his pants were almost the same color as his horse, with silver buttons running down the outer leg. Cherry had seen a similar manner of dress before—on the Mexican vaqueros that often worked for her pa in the fall.
“Cherry,” her pa scolded in a whisper as the stranger neared them.
She straightened and blushed, embarrassed by being as impolite in her staring as the other town folk were in theirs. It seemed everyone had stopped whatever they had been doing to walk out to the street and watch the stranger ride in.
No one spoke—the only sound was that of the breeze, a falcon’s cry overhead and the rhythm of the rider’s horse as it slowed to a trot….”
"The Outer Edge of Heaven" by Jaclyn M. Hawkes
This one is pretty new. I reserved it only a few months ago from my library.
(From Amazon)
"Montana truly is heavenly. Especially those handsome cowboys.
Her parents want a clout wielding attorney. She just wants to teach kindergarten. When her “all-powerful” parents actually choose her future husband, -a divorce lawyer named Elroy, Charlie opts out and heads for Big Sky Country to work on a sprawling ranch in the heart of the Montana Rockies. Filled with colorful characters of all kinds, a horse of her own, and one extremely attractive rancher, it makes for a summer never to be forgotten. Once again, Jaclyn M. Hawkes spins a tale filled with a deft mix of humor, romance, and tension that will leave you wishing that she’d kept on writing."

(From Amazon)
"A young married couple struggles to find balance during the over-the-top decade of the seventies. Gold medallions, disco dancing, Star Wars and Saturday Night Fever are all the rage. Jimmy Carter is President during a frightening recession, with fuel bills higher than house payments. In the heartland of America, a young Mormon couple, Marcie and Shawn McGill, struggle to save their home, family and marriage. During these uncertain times, they come to learn what matters most.
Uncut Diamonds is a novel that celebrates family– the ordinary, the outrageous, the comical and the tragic."
And once again, we have "Siren Song at Midnight" by David Farland if you missed it last time.
(From Amazon)
"Beware of strangers, yes. But also beware of friends. Sometimes, it is the ones we love most who call us to our doom.
[Special Feature: Includes author notes on the origins of the short story.]"

2 books
"Born for Thortons Sake" by Marcia Lynn McClure
From Amazon "Maria Castillo Holt…the only daughter of a valiant Lord and his Spanish beauty. Following the tragic deaths of her parents, Maria would find herself spirited away by conniving kindred in an endurance of neglect and misery.
However, rescued at the age of thirteen by Brockton Thorton, the son of her father's devoted friend, Lord Richard Thorton, Maria would at last find blessed reprieve. Further, the heir to Lord Thorton's title, Brockton Thorton became from that day forth, ever the absolute center of Maria's very existence. And as the blessed day of her sixteenth birthday dawned, Maria's dreams of owning her heart's desire, seemed to become a blissful reality.
Yet a fiendish plotting intruded, and Maria's hopes of realizing her dreams come true were locked away within dark, impenetrable walls. Would Maria's dreams of life with the handsome and coveted Brockton Thorton die at the hands of a demon strength?"

Journey of Honor
"Journey of Honor" by Jaclyn M. Hawkes
(From Amazon)
A Journey Through the Refiner’s Fire
Disowned, she came to America anyway. Attacked and left pregnant by a vicious mob, she still pressed on. Finally, in spite of being accused of theft by the vilest of her attackers, Giselle tries to remain as upbeat and uncomplaining as a prairie wildflower as she travels on to Zion.
Thoroughly disillusioned with the ugliness and cruelty of slavery in the South, Trace Grayson leaves his young medical career to go west, hoping to leave bigotry and hatred behind. He begins taking goods by teamster train to sell in the territories. However, this fourth time across, in July of 1848, he’s stuck in St. Joseph, Missouri, waiting for enough wagons to join the train so that they can leave.
Knowing that if they don’t start west soon, they’ll be caught by snow in the mountains, Trace is thrilled when the final wagon signs on. Then, when the beautiful, young Dutch girl traveling with the last wagon is falsely accused of stealing and is detained, the whole trip is jeopardized. Thrown together by circumstance, Trace and Giselle team up to begin to figure out just how to make this epic journey across a continent a success.
With a deep sense of honor and an equally strong sense of humor, together they learn to deal with everything except the one trial that neither of them can overcome.

The Wretched of Muirwood, Book 1
The Blight of Muirwood, Book 2

I haven't read these books, but they look interesting. All 3 books have 5 star ratings on Amazon.

Another new book today!
"This Very Moment" by Rachel Ann Nunes
Just wanted to point out, many of these books seem to be free for 24 hours or so. Some it seems like even less. I check my price checker about twice a day, so am able to catch most. but some days I'll find that even though my price checker is listing a book (it checks prices 4x a day) I've already missed it.
My point? If you see a free book listed on here, you better act quickly.

new book
Psion Beta by Jacob Gowans
This book is a bit violent (think Hunger Games) but a very good read in my opinion. I liked it so much I forked over $5 for the sequel.
Last I heard from the author, He was In the process of having it professionally edited. I don't know if this has happened yet. Either way editing issues were not bad (that I remember anyway) .
Edited to add that I have heard from the Author (my hubby knows him from an online sports chat board) and he has confirmed that this is the newly edited version (edited mostly for grammer) and that this book will be free until April 3rd.

New book
I'm starting to feel like this is a blog promoting Marcia Lynn Mcclure. Its not!! However, she is becoming a fave just because she regularly has books for free. I wish more authors would do that every now and then.

new free book
So I have been debating several things today. Do I clog up inboxes just to tell you there are no free books today, do I just not post, or should I also point out books that are under $1.
I am leaning towards a combo of not posting unless there are free books as well as having a list of cheap books. What do you think?
In the meantime I just happened upon a new free book.
"Kiss in the dark" by Marcia Lynn Mcclure.
I apologize that there is no link. I'm sending this from my kindle and am not very good at highlighting words with it yet.

Dear Publishers and Authors
Why do you insist on pricing a book that is 10 years old at $9.99? Are you serious?
Just finished the search I was working on! Yay! I was happy to discover some new free books.
"Home to Wyoming (Cheyenne Springs)" by Tom Roulstone
"Swashbuckling Fantasy" by several authors, one of whom is Obert Skye, an LDS author.
"An Epiphany Gift for Robin" by Joyce DiPastena
Just for future reference, I got my list of authors from Deseretbook.com and booknookplus.com (a local lds bookstore that carries the less mainstream publishers). So while some authors are not LDS, they do have books carried by LDS stores. So they should be safe. But I just put this warning out there just in case.

No new books today
I couldn't find any books on the 'top 100 free books' list that Amazon puts out today.
I am in the process of developing a search that will hopefully help me find more free books to list. Its taking longer than I anticipated, but hopefully tomorrow or this weekend.
If you happen across a free book that you think everyone should read, share it!

Today's free Kindle books
"This Time Forever" by Rachel Ann Nunes
"A Better Reason to Fall in Love" Marcia Lynn McClure
Marcia isn't technically an LDS author, but she is fairly popular among LDS readers because while her books are fairly risque (lots and lots of kissing, dwelling on physical good looks, etc etc) there is nothing beyond that.
If you know of any books that I have missed, please let me know. If I don't have them listed here, I don't know about them. And if I don't know about them - well it makes me sad and I can't read them!

Free LDS Books for Kindle
OK, I know I can't be the only cheap person out there. There is nothing I hate more than buying books for my Kindle knowing that I could just get them at the library for free.
But for me, I love using my Kindle to work out with. No pages to physically have to turn, no bulky book to hold open, Not having to worry that its too thick to sit on that little magazine ledge that my elliptical has.
So, I started checking the Amazon free books page. I would do my best to vet out books that were clean and even stuck with those that were considered Christian fiction. However, I can't tell you how many stinkers I was stuck with! And how many I would get halfway through with only to have the main characters sleep together or run into a steamy scene. It was awful. And don't get me started on just looking through the free books and even the paid books on Amazon. I am SICK of scanning through covers using a search such as "free kindle book christian" and finding a half dressed person on a cover.
Anyway...I thought maybe I could help others out there like me.
I am going to list all the free Kindle books by LDS authors I can find. Since Amazon prices change fairly regularly, I cannot guarantee that the books I post about today will be still be free tomorrow.
Happy Reading!
